These are the most frequently used parameters.

In the Router section, the parameter ROUTING (Routing Management) allows to set two kinds of CTI Routing functioning:

ROUTING

Routing management [EN-BLOC, PREFIX]:

  • EN-BLOC. The CTI Router waits to receive the complete number (from the line, the PABX or other connected devices) before choosing the routing. The routing table management is easier, but the disadvantage is that, at the end of dialing, the user must press the “#” on the phone or wait a time out of (generally) 5 seconds (see parameter DIALT on CTI Ports) before the call starts.

  • PREFIX. The CTI Router verifies the rule to match at the receipt of a single digit. The configuration of the CTI Routing table is a bit more difficult and delicate, but the advantage is that the user isn't required to press “#” on the phone or wait any time at the end of dialing.

MAIL-FROM

Sender of e-mail on call failure/forwarding. "SYS" or "AUTO" or a valid e-mail address.

  • SYS: the mail sender configured in CXGEN 'MAIL-SENDER' is used;

  • AUTO: a fixed value is used (e.g. ctisys@<cp-prompt>);

  • e-mail address: from 0 up to 128 ASCII printable characters. Spaces aren't allowed. Case is preserved.

OUTDIAL-TONE

Enable/disable the outside dial tone generation [NO, YES]. The outdial tone is used so as to remind users to dial a prefix, or select in another way, an outside line.

OUTDIAL-DIGIT

Digit for outside selection ['0'..'9'].

MOH

Enable/disable Music on Hold service. Music on Hold refers to music played to callers while they are waiting on hold.

MOH-DIR

Music on Hold service Working directory path. Physical full path in DOS notation, i.e. starting with a drive letter in the range ['A'..'Z'] and ending with the '\' character. Max. 128 characters. Case is preserved. Spaces are allowed. Strings holding spaces must be written between quotation marks (E.g.: "C:\My dir\"). By default: "C:\APP\CTI\MOH\".

MOH-MSG

Name of the file holding the music/message to be played.

  • "#" : Do not play any music/message.

  • "*" : Play all music/message files in alphabetic order.

  • From 1 up to 20 characters. Names holding spaces must be written between quotation marks (E.g.: "Dft music").

CDI-PERMIT-FAIL-REWRITE

Choose call closure or Called Number rewrite when xxx-CDI-PERMIT verification fails (see user parameters). [c, C, 0..9, #, *, 'macro'], optionally preceded by TON [u, i, n, o, s, h, k] and/or NP [x, e, d, t, l, p] attributes. (E.g. 123, #, 123'cdi', 'cdi'123'cgi.s5', 'sdi', ''listname'', ''listname.cd'', ''listname.cg'.s2', ''listname'.s5'). Value # is used to close the call. See also HELP ISDN ATTRIBUTES and HELP ISDN VALUES.

The section Last Calling number Service allows to choose two system parameters:

LCST

Last Calling number Service records timeout [NONE, 1..999 hour].

lcs-dir

Last Calling number Service Working directory path.

[Note]Note

The Last Calling number Service is useful if UMTS Box is installed, but it can be used with ISDN ports, CLUSTERS, as well as with SIP and IAX users.

The section CallTry allows to configure two parameters about call-try feature:

CALLTRY-TOUT

Timeout [30..600 sec].

CALLTRY-NRTY

Number of retry [1..30].

The most important parameters of Address Book section are:

ADDRBOOK-SOURCE

Select which Address Book service to use [ABILIS-ADDRBOOK, LDAP-LOCAL, LDAP-REMOTE].

ADDRBOOK-SYNC

Select which Address Book Abilis users must be entered and kept synchronized [NO, LDAP, ABILIS, ALL].

addrbook-dir

bilis Address Book service working directory path. Only for ADDRBOOK-SOURCE equal to ABILIS-ADDRBOOK.

ADDRBOOK-PUB-MAX

Maximum allowed number of PUBLIC contacts in Abilis Address Book [0..10000]. Only for ADDRBOOK-SOURCE equal to ABILIS-ADDRBOOK.

ADDRBOOK-PRIV-MAX

Maximum allowed number of individual user PRIVATE contacts in Abilis Address Book [0..10000]. Only for ADDRBOOK-SOURCE equal to ABILIS-ADDRBOOK.

LDAP-SEARCH-BASE-DN

Ldap Base-DN. From 0 up to 64 Alphanumeric extended characters. Case is preserved. Spaces are allowed. Strings holding spaces must be written between quotation marks (E.g.: "str1 str2"). Only for ADDRBOOK-SOURCE equal to LDAP-REMOTE.

LDAP-REM-ACCOUNT

Ldap Account. From 0 up to 16 Alphanumeric extended characters. Case is preserved. Spaces are allowed. Strings holding spaces must be written between quotation marks (E.g.: "str1 str2"). Only for ADDRBOOK-SOURCE equal to LDAP-REMOTE.

The most important parameters of EEC section are:

AEC

Acoustic Echo Canceller. When set to YES is enables for ALL the EEC channels the capability to cancel acoustic echo too. In normal telecom applications the AEC isn't needed.

TAIL-BASE

The EEC can cancel echo in the range 0..128 msec. By specifying here a value greater than 0 the range is value+128ms. For example if TAIL-BASE is 256, the EEC is able to cancel echo between 256 and 384 msec.

The section named Dsp firmwares and configurations for C6412 on QPRIX and PB44X allows to choose some parameters of the embedded vocoders.

TRANSPARENT, G711 and G729a vocoders are available as embedded vocoders through QPRIX and PB44X. The advantage is there's no need of additional DSP. The most important characteristics and limitations are:

The choice of vocoders and echo canceller tail defines the number of available channels (AC). This number is automatically computed by Abilis once the type of vocoder and the echo canceller tail are set.

On the left side of the section there is the card type, this is required because the QPRIX and PB44X can be manufactured in 4 main types. On the right side there are 3 parameters to configure:

The AC value is automatically computed and shows the number of available voice channels (in the above example, there are 18 channels for card type 2). Use the command s p ctisys card-type:2 g.729a:no to disable g729a support for card type 2. The number of available channels (AC) is automatically updated to 64.

The section named Software Audio Compressors configuration (SWAC) allows to choose some parameters of the SWAC.

With SWAC is possible to use cards without DSPs and let the main x86 CPU to perform echo cancellation and voice compression. The card must be equipped with an adequate number of HDLC controllers usable for transparent data transfer. There are of course limits of the number of simultaneous channels that depends on echo canceller tail, x86 cpu power, and required residual cpu power for the other activities.

[Important]Important

SWAC requires separate licence.

[Note]Note

SWAC doesn't support FAX-MODEM RELAY.

The most important parameters of Software Audio Compressors configuration (SWAC) section are:

swac-enabled

Enable software audio compression [NO, YES].

swac-chans

Number of software audio channels [0..255]. Only for SWAC:YES.

SWAC-EC-TAIL

Software echo canceler maximal tail length [0..32 1 msec steps]. Only for SWAC:YES.

SWAC-PRECEDENCE

Sets precedence in use of SWAC channels respect to HWAC (DSP) [NO, YES]. Only for SWAC:YES.

The following command shows the available number of SWAC:

Into Audio compressors defaults section there are the default values used in the system profile (Sys).

When a compressed call between two Abilis is setup, the coder use must be “negotiated”: the available coders set is defined in CODERS field. The order of the list items defines also the order of scan precessing.

CODERS:G.711,G.726,G.727,GSM6.10,Spirit,G.723.1,G.729A,Transp

In this section there are other interesting and very important parameters:

SC

Silence compression [NO, YES]. Enable or disable the compression of the “silence” during compressed calls for bandwidth use reduction.

FM-RELAY

Fax/Data relay [NO, YES]. Enable or disable the Fax Relay management. The Fax/Data relay is supported only by physical Audio Compressors.

[Important]Important

To use the transcoding by MCD or SWAC is necessary to set the FM-RELAY:NO.

DJ

Default jitter buffer size [0..1000 ms]. Set the default compensating time of voice frames arrival variation (very important on WAN realized on Internet connections).

MJ

Maximum jitter buffer size [0..1000 ms]. Sets the maximum compensating time of voice frames arrival variation (very important on WAN realized on Internet connections).

[Tip]Tip

As is well known, Internet lines are affected from latency and time arrival variation of frames caused by network congestion, timing drift, or route changes (this is the definition of jitter). When Internet lines are used for the VoIP application, it's fundamental to set the properly CTISYS parameter to obtain good results and good quality communication.

The jitter buffer is managed by DJ and MJ parameters. Too low values can cause chopped voice (sensation of metallic sound) during emptying of jitter-buffer. Too high values can modify the voice tone and introduce a perceptible delay of voice (also echo can be noticed). For a good optimization evaluating the line in use is needed.

Generally, on lines with a low time arrival variation of the frames, good values can be: DJ:80 and MJ:250.

TRANSCODING

Choose transcoding performed by CPU (MCD) or by audio compressors (AC) [MCD-FIRST, AC-FIRST, MCD-ONLY, AC-ONLY].

[Important]Important

To use the transcoding by MCD is necessary to set the FM-RELAY:NO.

In the Tones and ringing patterns section, the TONESET parameter allows to choose the dial tone and other tones (i.e. Alerting tone, busy tone…). By default, it's set to ABILIS and it means that the dial tone is a continuous one, but others are available: ITALY (simulates the Italian Telecom dial tone) or USERDEF (allows the user to customize the tones). The tones change by configuring the sequence and the duration of TONEs and SILENCEs (T1, S1, T2...).
