80.9. Outgoing calls

Outgoing calls are possible to make in two modes:

By default the AUTO mode is enabled. To change to MANUAL mode, please refer to Call Selection.

[Note]Note

Contact your system administrator to enable the ability to change these modes.

80.9.1. AUTO call mode

Once dialled the desired number in the Address bar or having selected it via the Address book (Contacts) the user may place a call.

Using the AUTO call mode, the user is not forced to decide whatever is better to save money and having better quality, the phone already knows because the phone has the settings of the user and the state of all connections.

Here is the simplified algorithm used in this mode:

  1. Checks the evaluation of the quality of Internet connection, to verify the possibility to make a VoIP call. If the quality is good, it makes a VoIP call, else, it passes to the next step.

  2. Checks the activated mode (Callback or Post Selection).

    • If the Post Selection mode is active, it places a GSM call in Post Selection mode.

    • If the Callback mode is active and Internet connection is present, it orders a Callback GSM call via Internet connection..

    • If the Callback mode is active and NO Internet connection, a Blind Callback is performed.

      [Note]Note

      Blind Callback must be enabled in the Call options.

80.9.2. MANUAL call mode

Once dialled the desired number in the Address bar or having selected it via the Address book (Contacts) the user may place a call.

Using the MANUAL button the user may choose personally what option to use to perform the call.

Let's check the fees for each call.

  • VoIP - the call is totally free, apart the cost of Internet connection, the user must check related fees to avoid to overflow the threshold provided by the carrier.

  • Post Selection - the call may be free if it is supposed that the SIM has a special contract to save money. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled;

    • "Postselection" must be enabled;

    • "Postselection" number must be set.

  • Callback - should be totally free for the user of the phone. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled;

    • The Abilisphone must have a data connection to Abilis;

    • "Callback" must be enabled.

  • Blind Callback - should be totally free for the user of the phone, but the user doesn't reach directly the final destination, he must be connected to own firm operator. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled;

    • "Callback number" must be set;

    • "Blind Callback" must be enabled.
